Rare Bourbon in August Just Whisky Auction

By August 14, 2019

Extremely rare and highly collectable Bourbon, Pappy Van Winkles, is set to sell at the Just Whisky August online auction alongside over 1,300 bottles of whisky from across the globe.

The August auction features a collection of Pappy Van Winkles bottles including the 20 Year Old Family Reserve. It is virtually impossible to buy the rare, iconic Bourbon at retail, with auctions the only way to access one.

Live until 8pm on Sunday (18th August), a range of highly sought after whisky is featured including Macallan 50 Year Old, Chichibu Intergalactic Series editions 1 and 2, Rosebank 12 Unblended Single Malt and Karuizawa 38 Years Old Pearl Geisha as well as a pair of Scotch Malt Whisky Society flip-flops.

A highlight of the auction is Longmorn 57 Years Old 1961 Private Collection Twin-Set. One of only 97 available worldwide, this dual release of exceptionally aged Longmorns was dedicated to Stuart and Richard Urquhart, Gordon & MacPhail’s identical twins. Each chose a cask to be bottled and released together in this magnificently presented set with both casks being filled (2nd February 1961) and bottled (2nd February 2018) on the same day.

For the second month in a row, Just Whisky has been trusted with a bottle of Macallan’s oldest expression to date – a 72 year old single malt bottled in a Lalique crystal decanter. Last month, a bidder snapped up a 72 Year Old for £90,750 and August’s bottle is expected to achieve a similar price.

Graham Crane, Director at Just Whisky, said:

“Investment in whisky is continuing to grow, with investors from the USA and Asia waking up to the returns to be made in rare whisky.

“Top Scottish whiskies have risen in value, providing returns of almost 600% over ten years* so we are thrilled to offer collectors and investors alike such rare whiskies in August’s auction, some these bottles won’t be seen on the resale market again for years.

“We are already seeing strong interest on our top bottles and we are excited to see where the bidding finishes on Sunday night.”

The auction will run until 8pm Sunday 18th August and will use a proxy system which bids on the customers behalf up to their maximum bid.
