Social media, it’s over rated isn’t it? No it’s not.
I don’t think there’s any real reason why a business shouldn’t be on social media. The only one that comes to mind would be to create extra distance from their consumers, but no business should want to do that. Sure businesses are sometimes scrutinised online, but social media also gives them an opportunity to shout about their achievements, deliver customer support and share their thoughts and interests in certain issues.
So why should every business be on social media?
Delivering customer support
Most people expect to hear back from a brand in under 60 minutes when they contact a brand online. A huge part of how consumers perceive a brand is through their customer support. Master responding quickly on social media and soon word will spread of your great customer service skills.
Helps find new customers
Social media presents companies with a great opportunity to attract new customers. Instead of just relying on word of mouth or more traditional forms of marketing. Running the likes of online competitions can help spread word and awareness of what you do/offer.
Target your advertising made easier
Targeting your advertising on social media is arguably easier than doing so through other traditional media outlets. Facebook and Twitter ads allow you to define your audience from the likes of interests, age, location and user behaviour.
Can help boost website traffic
Every business that goes onto social media should have the intention on becoming an authority on what they do. How do you do this? You blog and you comment on topics that are important for your brand. Through creating consistent, interesting, insightful content interested parties will come to your website to see what advice or stance the company is taking.
Increase brand awareness
As we’ve mentioned previously, social media can be a cost effective tool to use to get your brand out there, if you are prepared to put in the time and effort. However if you have a budget to use (small or large) you can take advantage of social media ads. Through targeting influencers and using relevant hashtags you can really get your name out there in front of people who may not have heard of your brand before.
