Morven Maclean is the volunteering development manager at CHAS and her fresh approach to attracting the charity’s volunteering approach is all about diversity.
“Valuing individuals and the unique talents they bring is the essence of volunteering. When we expand the diversity of volunteers in our organisations, we build human capital, which in turn strengthens communities. Developing a diverse and inclusive volunteering programme is about making everyone feel welcome – and this doesn’t just happen. It requires leadership, resources and a lot of hard work. Diversity should sit at the heart of every volunteering programme – the benefits for organisations, individuals and communities make it well worth the investment.”
