Beyond Brexit: What’s going on in Scottish Politics?
Friday 24th May 2019
12:30pm to 2pm
AnywhereWorks, 11 Rutland Street, Edinburgh, EH1 2AE
Come along and join us as we look ‘Beyond Brexit’
Since the result of the EU referendum was announced in 2016, Brexit has sucked up all the UK’s political oxygen and arguably stifled debate across the UK on the ‘bread and butter’ issues of domestic political discourse such as health, education and justice.
But setting Brexit aside, has this one all-encompassing issue really side-lined all others or has politics been continuing as normal, albeit under the radar?
In the latest of our Indigo Insights series, we’ve brought together speakers from the worlds of government, the media and policy to talk how they’ve seen Scottish politics beyond Brexit over the last few years and how they see future domestic policy shaping up.
We’ll be addressing questions such as:
- Where are the next big political ideas coming from and how could they be delivered?
- Is Scotland’s political environment conducive to bringing about political change?
- Has the Brexit effect made it harder to affect and campaign for change?
- Which campaigns have successfully caught the imagination of the public over the past few years?
The discussion will be led by Jacqui Low, Executive Chairman of Indigo and Chairman of Partick Thistle Football Club you’ll hear expert insight from our panel of:
Michael Blackley, Scottish Political Editor of The Daily Mail
Russell Gunson, Director of the Institute of Public Policy Research in Scotland
Ben Macpherson MSP, Minister for Europe, Migration and International Development
Come along and join us over lunch for this free round-table event to cut through the Brexit white-noise and get right to the core of the political debate that shapes the future of domestic policy in Scotland.
